Yiddish, Bundists… in Australia?!
Join us for a live Zoom conversation (in Yiddish) with
Arnold Zable
In the streets of Carlton, once a center of Jewish life in Melbourne, Yiddish songs filled the air, Bundists gathered, Yiddish theater troupes performed, and a rich cultural world flourished.
This was the world in which writer Arnold Zable grew up, the son of Bundist immigrants from Poland. In our conversation, we will return with him to the streets of his childhood, the Yiddish schools, theaters, songs, and people who shaped the world of his early years. We will also explore how the memories of that world live on in his books.
