Halloween /

Halloween originates from an ancient Celtic festival that observed October 31st as the last day of the year. The Celts believed that on that day the boundary between the living and the dead was blurred and spirits returned to Earth. They also believed that besides doing damage, the ghosts helped the Celtic priests foretell the future. Well, Halloween has developed tremendously during the last 2,000-plus years, and today the day is celebrated more or less as pure fun: we dress up as witches, ghosts, ghouls and skeletons, we carve jack-o’-lanterns, watch horror movies, and go trick-or-treating. In a nutshell: This day has become a completely different kind of festival!
